Alessandro Riccombeni

Founder of Axia Medicine

Dr. Alessandro Riccombeni founded Axia Medicine with a single mission in mind: to ensure every individual can benefit from their own health data, by making Personalised Medicine a reality for all patients. This mission was born from Alessandro’s research background in oncology and infectious biology, as well as from his professional experience supporting some of the world’s most ambitious health data initiatives, such as: UK Biobank, Genomics England, AstraZeneca’s Two Million Genomes Initiative and Our Future Health. As a business leader, Alessandro led the creation of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Precision Medicine business, including Amazon Omics, Big Tech’s first Population Genomics cloud service, as well as being chosen by Microsoft to lead their precision medicine ambitions as their first National Genomics Officer. Through this range of experiences he has seen first-hand the potential, and challenges, of personal health data, and his ambition is to put patients at the centre of biomedical research, while also ensuring patient data receives the highest levels of protection. Alessandro holds a PhD in Genomics from University College Dublin and an Executive MBA from London Business School, and is a regular speaker and lecturer in the Precision medicine and Genomics industry.
